80's/Polka Party

This past weekend was St. Paul's annual 80's/Polka Christmas Party. You might be wondering what exactly that is, but instead of explaining, I'll demonstrate.

There was a DJ. This is Charles and I dancing to some of his stuff.

Charles wore the headlamp his brother Jon gave him so that he could see his music when on stage playing bass. And on the dance floor, he put it on strobe mode. We were coolest couple there. Thanks Jon!
This is the "A" in "YMCA" (notice the concentration on Charles' face)

There was also a Polka Band. Here's a short clip of the band playing Polka, with some dark figures in the foreground demonstrating what it looks like to dance to Polka music.

Then the Polka Band became an 80's cover band. Here are two clips from the night. The sound was of course flawless in person. My crumby little video camera couldn't do us justice.

Our friends Mark & Erin Adams joined us with a few of their friends. Mark shot all of the video and photographs in this entry including this self portrait. Thanks Mark!

A not so Merry Christmas

This is my neice Hailey expressing her general discontent with Santa. It was good of him to keep smiling, don't you think?
I love the girl. She's great.

Meet Brooke

I taught Brooke for two years in High School Literature. Brooke was our original model, and her pictures have gotten me many jobs throughout the years. Last year, we photographed Brooke's wedding, this halloween we photographed Brooke's beautiful baby girl Kilee. Now, she wants to get into photography herself, and so she is coming to assist me on some jobs.
This was our first job together and I was having her meter the different areas where we would have people standing for a large family group shot. I just think she's great and I'm excited to work with her.
