Fair Weather Friend

Our CR-V has a bad habit of not starting in the rain. We think it just gets down. So, last month we had it “repaired” because we knew we had our roadtrip to NJ this month. As it happens, we followed a storm up the east coast. The CR-V started yesterday even though it was raining. However, this morning at a hotel in Petersburg, Virginia, I think our little CR-V was just a little overwhelmed, and it decided not to start. We were supposed to be on our way to Williamsburg to have brunch with a friend, and were hoping to get to NJ tonight. So after waiting over an hour for AAA to show up, the driver convinced us to go to his shop instead of the Honda service center. Luckily, the mechanics believed us that all the little car needed was some sunshine and they put some hot lights on the engine, and in another hour when they tried the crank, the CR-
V started happily. So we were on our way again, 4 hours later than planned, minus the brunch, and not turning off the engine until we got to Charles’ parents’ house. We ordered the parts and Charles is hopefully going fix it on Monday.

Biker Chicks

For several years now, Charles has been dragging me into the woods swearing that someday I will learn to love mountain biking the way he does. Being naturally competitive, biking has always been very discouraging for me as Charles and Mark would bound through the woods way ahead of me and it was just me and rocks and roots and tight steep turns. There was no way I was ever going to ride as fast as the guys, but I continued going, since there are very few team sports for adults to get involved in for exercise.
This year however, it’s not just me and the boys, our entire life group has started to bike. Last Saturday we all drove out to Ft. Yargo state park, and did an 11 mile ride. It was a lot of fun. Here are the girls: Catri, me, Shauna, Donna Marie, and Bevin.

Adventure Bunny

This video is late in coming to my blog. Taken many months ago when Gordy (known then as Gerty) was trying to explore every inch of the house. Unfortunately he stopped this amusing behavior after smashing into the desk on his second attempt. The sound is a little behind, so the full impact of his second smash is delayed. Oh well.
